Hey Guys...if you like the iPhone, but don't really want to switch phones or carriers, I found this place

http//www.bestiphonetheme.com .

I installed it on my HTC Touch, and can have an iPhone when I want it, or just my regular theme if I get tired of the iPhone.

Colin, great points. In the future, we'll look into doing a more in-depth comparson. Any other suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated.

You're forgetting the most important part of any smart phone, especially one with the touch-phone capabilities of these phones, is the software. There's no comparison of how these different phones feel against each other, no comparison of ease of use or navigability.

Eddie - how did you port to Android??? I knew some groups on ppcgeeks.com and xda-developers.com had successfully loaded Linux with an Android skin, but I didn’t know anyone had a full-fledged, working copy! Can you browse the internet, make calls, send texts, check email, etc? I’ve never really been a fan of the Gmail mobile application, so I’m hoping Android has a more Outlook-like user-interface.

Also, you mentioned the EVDO RevA update for the Touch – I think it’s important to note that it’s not truly an official release from Sprint or HTC (UT Starcom). The leaked version, which I’m personally using, isn’t actually supported. That said, I love the ROMs people have customized - if you’re an experienced user, I think the updates are WELL worth the hassle!

I’ll probably try out your CAB file tonight, Eddie – thanks for the link.

To other readers, I’d caution you that any of these updates (aside from the ones sent by the carrier or manufacturer) are in the “use at your own risk” category. You could easily “brick” your phone with a bad file or an improper installation.

The Touch got even better now that Android has been ported to it. Adds a whole new level of functionality to the device. It also has gotten EVDO RevA added bumping its network speed up.

Also, don't forget about GPS....

Check out the Android page at http://www.myhtcphone.com
