I Couldn’t Help But Overhear…

What if someone else found your cell phone? What could they learn about you? What if they started answering your calls? That’s the premise of a new play from Pulizter Prize finalist playwright Sarah Ruhl that debuted last week at the Wooly Mammoth Theatre in Washington, DC.

As part of the play’s promotion, the theatre has created a web site, Dead Man’s Cell Phone, where you can share the most bizarre cell phone conversations you’ve overheard. They’ll be playing their favorites in the theatre, and you can get a discount on tickets just for sharing – but even if you can’t make it to the show, the site is worth checking out for its ridiculous conversational snippets. “Possible Horse Divorce is just one example.

The play runs through July 1, for those of you in the DC area. There are “Meet the Playwright and “Meet the Artist evenings available during the run of the show.
