Disney Mobile’s Cell and Tell Survey

The Washington Post reports on Disney Mobile’s “Cell and Tell” survey, which shows parents of teenagers will need to keep an eye on their cell phone bills this summer. According to Disney: “cell phone usage among 10-17 year-olds jumps by more than an hour a day in the summer, to more than three hours and 45 minutes, compared to a normal school day.”
Nearly a quarter of the American teens surveyed by Disney said they would rather give up an mp3 player or TV than relinquish their cell phones, but these sacrifices pale in comparison to what British 16- to 24-year olds would give up for the cell phones; hopefully those vices are still relatively unfamiliar to the 10- to 17-year old in Disney Mobile’s survey.
The cell phone poll also showed that a whopping 96% of the kids surveyed use their cell phones to talk to mom and dad on a daily basis, with a fifth communicating with their parents at least 5 times daily! Who says kids are uncommunicative? If you have trouble getting your child to talk to you, perhaps you simply need to get junior his own cell.

Those kids need a summer job.
I think there are child labor laws against putting 10-year olds into the workforce.
